Caroline Apalat, a booking Clerk for Gogolon Transporters Ltd that plies the Kampala-Moroto route via Mbale, Kumi and Soroti in Eastern Uganda says several passengers who booked cancelled their Thursday trip forcing them to charge the initial rates.

Among them is a start-up by Ugandan innovator David Lwangwa who is creating a platform for cancer patients to take charge of their treatment using Artificial Intelligence.
The minister of health, Dr Jane Ruth Acenf says the variant has not yet been detected in Uganda. She however adds that as a measure to ensure early detection of the variant, genome sequencing will be carried out on all COVID-19 positive tests of travelers entering the country by land or air.
