Pajule Sub-county LCIII Chairperson Brilliant Tito Okello says that the anomaly angered the locals since they had already been registered to benefit from the mosquito nets.
Dr. Jimmy Opigo, the Malaria Control Programme Manager, said they had delivered bed nets to 134 sub counties out of the 398 ear marked to benefit from the first round of distribution by Wednesday.
Approximately 2.6 million people who registered to get the nets in the five divisions of Rubaga, Nakawa, Makindye, Kawempe and Central will be the ones to benefit from the campaign.
His troubles stem from the release of two suspects who were arrested on 2nd June, 2014 for buying 126 mosquito nets supplied by government to the locals. The two; Innocent Halera and Juliet Nyirabakunzi all residents of Bunagana in Kisoro District, were arrested with Mosquito Nets which had been distributed to the locals.
According to the contract, the VHTs were meant to receive 10,000 shillings for the two days in addition to meals and transport allowances. However, the VHTs claims that they didn’t receive their money.
Rachael Namulondo, a resident of Mutukula village in Iganga district received two mosquito nets in the recent round of distribution. The mother of two folded the mosquito nets and kept them under her pillow.
One of the cult\'s followers argues that their religion is against counting and numbers, the reason why many have decided to stop their children from going to school and hospitals because the two institutions are synonymous with counting. He adds that they believe that all people who are counted will not go to heaven.
