Speaking to Uganda Radio Network, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu the Minister of Health in charge of Primary Health Care said that the plan is to remodel the unit such that more babies can be accommodated since they are often overwhelmed by numbers to the extent that numerous babies have to share one bed.
Dr. Daniel Okello, the Ag. Director Public Health and Environment at KCCA, said the policy will not only address issues of nutrition but also sewerage management especially responsibilities of individuals and government when it comes to preserving proper sanitation in populous environments where the majority are tenants.
In an interview with Uganda Radio Network, Prof. Nawangwe said they have a budget of US$400million where the plan is to have a 200 bed capacity facility that will sit on 30 acres of land at Katalemwa in Gayaza Wakiso district.
