New Drug Shows Potential to Treat Resistant Strains of Malaria anti-malaria drugs

In children with acute uncomplicated malaria, response to treatment with Ganaplacide was similar to the rate observed in patients who received artemether-Lumefantrine control therapy where more than 80% effectiveness was recorded. Ganaplacide also demonstrated similar median parasite-clearing times compared to the control therapy and the solid dispersion formulation was also generally well tolerated in the children.

WHO Prioritizes Access to Diabetes and Cancer Treatments in New Essential Medicines Lists Ministry of Health 1 Top story

In its guide released on Friday, the organisation lists new treatments for various cancers and diabetes, medicines they say will help people who want to stop smoking as a predisposing factor for the Non Communicable Diseases NCDs. They also note, the new medicines will treat serious bacterial and fungal infections that tend to resist existing treatments.

The US Ambassador to Uganda Natalie E. Brown handed over an initial donation of USD 1.6 million (6 billion Shillings) representing the first-year of funding for a five-year partnership between the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Kampala Capital City Authority to improve health services in the Kampala Metropolitan area.

Only 15 African Countries hit September Target of Vaccinating 10% of Their Population 2 1

While the World Health Organisation announced that up to 90 per cent of the high income countries have hit their targets, here only Seychelles and Mauritius in Africa that have covered more than 60 per cent of their people. Morocco has covered 48 per cent whereas Tunisia, Comoros and Cape Verde over 20 per cent .
