Now, the first lady and Education and Sports Minister, Janet Kataha Museveni has written to Makerere University Council Chairman, Eng. Dr. Charles Wanna Etyem confirming the resolution and banned staff from making any travels on behalf of the university.
The Directorate of Education Standards halted the operations of Bridge International Schools following concerns of legality, quality of infrastructure and teaching methodology, a decision which affects 63 campuses and over 1000 pupils.
Under the new policy, every student who fails a paper is required to pay 50,000 shillings for each paper retaken and once a student fails two papers, he/she automatically gets a dead year. In this case such a student is required to stay put in their current year of study.
