“The government has tried to support education and it does a good job. But, many schools standing and offering some better education are standing on the shoulders of parent’s contributions, and those that have rejected this are in a very sorry state," said Bahati.
Bahati said that currently there is an ambiguity in the roles of these bodies often leads to misunderstandings and disputes, as some foundation bodies act as though they have control over the schools akin to private institutions.
Kiyonga, who has great respect for Uganda’s oldest university, notes that he will work with all stakeholders to ensure the holistic growth of the university.
This 46-year-old institution, the only government technical school serving the greater Kabale area comprising of Kabale, Rubanda, and Rukiga districts, has long struggled with inadequate, dilapidated, and makeshift wooden structures.
