A URN reporter has learnt that an invitation card, a University graduation handbook together with a graduands car stickers are being sold at between 15,000 and 20,000 shillings.
Uganda National Examinations Board UNEB has rated Biology as the worst done subject in the 2016 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education UACE examinations.
A total of 1,385 out of the 104,243 registered candidates did not turn up for exams, a slight drop from the 1,421 absentees registered in 2015, according to figures released by Uganda National Examinations Board--UNEB.
The withheld exams are from 11 centers. The centers affected include Science Foundation with 27 candidates, 11 candidates from Alliance SS Ibanda, 10 from Ezra Memorial SS, five from Rubona SS and five from Iganga Parents SS, among others.
Up to 34 students were awarded Doctoral degrees-PhD. 10 PhD students graduated from College of Natural Sciences, 10 students from College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, six from College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology and eight students from the College of Education and External Studies.
A copy of the results availed by the Uganda National Examinations Board UNEB indicates that 39,797 candidates out of the 102,858 candidates who sat for the UACE in 2016, obtained three principle passes.
The assurance comes in the wake of a heavy burden to consumers resulting from the late and erratic rains and an early cessation of rainfall experienced last year. As several parts of the country battle abnormal dryness, gardens are all drying up with little prospects of rainfall, raising fears of a looming food shortage.
By 6:45am graduands had started arriving at the university main campus. There is heavy deployment at the university as police personnel man all main entrances and small gates. Several graduands together with their parents are subjected to several security checks.
