Lecturers at the School of Law at Makerere University have asked Parliament of Uganda to consider shelving the bill seeking to amend Article 102b of the 1995 constitution. This position was contained in joint statement by 22 law lecturers read by Associate Prof. Christopher Mbazira today at Makerere University.
The indictment follows a World Bank report on education which indicated children are learning very little in school with millions lacking basic numeracy and literacy skills even after spending several years in school.
Prof. Ahikire says right from colonial times, land has remained one of the unfinished businesses arguing that the 1995 constitution just fueled the already complex situation.
