The school which is located along the Yumbe-Koboko border currently operates without a pit latrine after the only 5-stanch pit latrine is out of use due to its dilapidated structure. The schools equally lack bathing shelters and change rooms for girls since due to shortage of classrooms.
Prosecution also told the court that Atiku confined the girl for about four days at his residence by means of deception for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
On Monday, angry laborers locked the girl’s dormitory and the administration block protesting underpaid arrears. Justine Okumu, one of the workers told URN that their children have been suspended from school due to accumulated school dues.
The incident occurred at 9:30 am on Wednesday during a heavy downpour, when pupils and teachers were in class. 60 pupils were rushed to Mingoyo Health Center II for treatment.
