John Watyekele, the head of the department of the Information and Communication Technology at Bulucheke Secondary school, says that they only have seven computers against a population of over 300 students offering computer studies.
In 2020, the government allocated 2.1 Billion Shillings for the construction of the school. The money was meant to be used to construct six classroom blocks, 2 teachers’ houses, two latrines, a library, computer lab, laboratory, and playground.
In 2017, over 150 teachers from Bududa district borrowed loans from Bududa Teachers Sacco at an interest of 8% per annum and a repayment period of two years. However, only 170 Million Shillings has been recovered from 100 teachers.
George William Wopuwa the Bududa Resident District Commissioner said it is so unfortunate that most of the district works are contracted from the centre which delays the delivery of services to the community.
According to Wakoba said , on 30th October last year the head teacher in the names of Debora Wemesa sent her deputy also called Stephen Patrick Kakala requesting him (parent) to feed the teachers who had returned to school on the teaching business.
He complied upon their request and fed them on grounds that they would pay him after the month.
Leaders like Victory Kakala the head boy, Faith Wetsetse the head girl, Beatrice Katisi the Speaker and Ben Wakwale the UNSA Chairperson among others said they were supposed to have retained power until they elect new leadership in the school, but because they have to proceed to the next level, that it was thought wise for them hand over power and prepare for other things since nobody is born with power".
Rogers Tsesili, the Director BUDEI, says the construction shall be completed by May this year to enable the delivery of computers and books.
Emma Namondo another disabled pupil said he eager to study computer given the fact that he has never touched one.
He said he also wants to study computer up to the highest level of learning.
