Agriculture Minister Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja told journalists in Kampala that a technical field expert team which was sent to neighbouring Kenya has confirmed that the locusts had hatched in billions in almost the whole of Turkana, an area closer to Uganda’s Karamoja region.
The deceased’s father, Lauben Thembo, says the toddler had gone to play in the neighborhood after the afternoon meal when he met his death. According to Thembo, they got concerned when they spent several hours without seeing the child and tried searching for him in vain.
Moses Dalili, the Karenga Chief Administrative Officer, says the construction will go on as planned until a court order is issued stopping the works. He says Karenga district was created by the parliament and the district was cleared to establish headquarters within the contested area.
