Ssemanda, Mutebi and other boat operators at Kasenyi landing site say the sailors should have first removed the laid fishing nets that had entangled the boat engines before embarking on the journey to Kisaba landing site.
Preliminary reports by fishermen indicate that boat could have broken down when fishing nets got stuck in its engine. Moses Musiitwa, a fisherman at Kasenyi landing site, says that the boat capsized between Lukuba and Misenyi island after being hit by strong winds on the lake.
Mabirizi said he initiated private prosecution proceedings against Rajiv Ruparelia as a responsible citizen precisely because the National Environment Management Authority-NEMA and police would most likely not arrest or charge him for dumping soil in the lake.

An NFA spokesperson Julliet Mubi says Entebbe College School was built on the borders of Kitubulu Forest Reserve and that Joshua Ssenkungu was given a lease of 28 years in 1998 to carry out forest activities in the reserve.
