Records at the health facility show that an average of 16 women who are registered for labor are referred to Jinja regional referral hospital due to lack of enough light to offer them proper maternal care.
The mistreatment of animals, especially cattle, goats, sheep and chickens by traders and butchers is alarming and common in many parts of the country. They are either overloaded on trucks, tied badly or over beaten.
Piers currently in an appalling state include the Buwaya pier for the Buwaya ferry, the Buvuma – Kiyindi pier for the Buvuma ferry, Bukasa pier and that for residents in Namayingo and Sigulu islands. They are either broken, submerged by water or neglected.
