The deceased include a retired teacher, Moses Kafeero Amooti and his nephew Benson Bogere who were hacked by assailants in Kobulubulu sub-county, where they had gone to collect payment of 4.5 million Shillings from the sale of land in Murem Landing Site in Kobulubulu.
Stanley Eroku, the Spokesperson Statehouse Anti- Corruption Unit, says the CAO fled arrest when the unit interrogated officers from Lango sub region last year.
“He has been hiding since March last year but we managed to arrest him yesterday. He will be produced to court soon and details of his case shall be availed shortly”, Eroku said on phone.
Like Jackson Abong Abwangamoi, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer in Kaberamaido attributes the salary issues to the wage shortfalls, which he notes is not matching with the recruited staff. He revealed that some staff are likely to go up to March, 2020 without salary if no immediate action is taken.
The district estimated collections worth 376 million Shillings in the financial year 2019-2020, with quarterly allocations of 94 million Shillings. However, only 72 million Shillings was realized in the first quarter of the year, creating a shortfall of 22 million Shillings.
