According to Kawumi, Habiyakare deserved an 18-year jail sentence, but he reduced the three months he spent on remand. Trouble for Habiyakare started on February 28th this year, when he was caught redhanded defiling his 14-year-old victim and primary six pupil at the school.
Ngororano, 29 years, who is currently being held at Kisoro Police Station was arrested on Thursday by the Police, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), and Internal Security Organization (ISO) officers following a tip-off from the whistleblower identified as Innocent Niyonzima,27, a social worker and resident of Kisoro municipality.
On August 26th, 2021, Mutabazi applied to the high court withdrawing the application, which was granted by the Kabale High Court Assistant Registrar, Julius Chaka Borore on Monday.
According to Owebeyi, although the candidates’ photos and party symbols that appeared on ballot papers were genuine, the names were not those of the candidates. He adds that the ballots displayed the names of Arthur Kazoora Atuzarirwe as the NRM flag bearer, Didas Byaruhanga Kagyinda as FDC flag bearer, Victor Atwiine and Donzio Kahonda Mugabe as independent candidates.
Sam Agaba, the Regional Inspectorate Officer Kabale, says the suspect was found with the money he had received from the complainant in his pocket during arrest. He says he suspect will be charge with soliciting and receiving a bribe.
Those sentenced included Emanuel Muhawenimana, Janamundu Ndayambaje , Jeanclaude Nhimyimana, Vianny Ntirenganya and Pascal Nsenga all residents of Musanze district in Rwanda.
