Some of the victims suffered gunshot wounds, lost relatives and property during the insurgency that lasted a year between 1886 and 1987. About 2630 victims from the districts of Luuka, Jinja, Mayuge, Iganga, Kaliro and Namutumba in Busoga region have come together to demand that government compensates them.
Kiyingi is celebrated far and near as the first Ugandan who wrote the first African play that was staged at the National Theater in 1953.
