The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga announced the death of the legislator during plenary, saying she had succumbed to COVID-19. The speaker, who led legislators to hold a moment of silence for their colleague, said she would defer the norm of holding a special session for the deceased up to a time when the situation allows.
Dr Edward Muwanga, the District Health Officer says that the district executive committee together with the health department resolved that Thursday will now be a special treatment day for elderly persons in government health facilities within the area.
The two institutional quarantine centres the district was operating in Nabigasa and Kakuuto sub-counties are currently closed; leaving the area with no facility where Covid-19 suspects can be admitted for monitoring.
The museum, which is found in Cardinal Wamala’s ancestral home in Kamaggwa village in Kyotera district, will act as a reference center for his contribution to both the Catholic Church and country at large.

Minister Esther Mbayo advises that RDCs operating in areas infiltrated by commercial sex work should open-up constructive engagement to ensure that sex workers utilize the available health services to control further spread of HIV while at the same time, adopting non-coercive approaches of seducing them out of the practice.
