The mudslide victims have now pitched camp at the sub county headquarters waiting for relief. Patrick Bikala, the Chief of Bukalasi Sub County, says their operations have grounded to a halt because of the threats from the mudslide victims over relief.
During a council meeting chaired, the Masaka municipality Mayor Godfrey Kayemba Afayo says that they were surprised to receive a notice from lawyers, acting on behalf of a businessman Emanuel Lwasa Kawesi, instructing tenants to vacate the building within 90 days. Kayemba says that Lwasa once claimed to be a tenant at the building but he is surprised that he is claiming ownership of the building.
Joseph Ssebyala, the Kkooki Chiefdom Cultural Minister accuses Mengo of deliberately undermining their cultural leader who should have been addressed as His Royal Highness. He says they were earlier compelled to suspend any cooperation with Mengo because of undermining their cultural institution.
