The Acholi Sustainable Charcoal Production and Marketing Bill, 2019 seeks to outlaw adverse methods of charcoal production, unlicensed charcoal burning and taxing charcoal being transported from the region.
The municipal law enforcement team and officers from Lira Central Police Station impounded merchandise from the vendors for safe custody at Lira Municipal Council Store. Some of the vendors were fined Shillings 100,000 for operating illegally on the streets.
Ogwang told URN, the operation has been halted until the vendors sensitized on dangers of streets operations.
Appearing before the Seven Member Land Commission on Tuesday, Bukenya said he bought the land measuring 186 Hectares in 2008 from a widow he identified as Imelda Nambwere and her two daughters at Shillings 102 Million.
