Gulu City Gets UGX 41 Billion for Road Works Road Construction 1 1

Edward Kiwanuka, the Gulu City Town Clerk says that the fund will construct more than 7 roads in the City totalling 7.788 kilometres. The roads include Oola Lubaro road, Vincent Opiyo road, Francis Barabanawe road, Lakana Odongkara road, Onono road and Nelson Mandela road.

In 2011, the Ministry of Works and Transport through a donation worth 1.9billion shillings from the Lake Victoria Environment Management Project-LAVEMP, undertook to construct a permanent market in Lukaya town council for hundreds of roadside vendors who operate from the area.

95 Kilometers of Roads in Omoro District in Appalling State Uganda Road Funds 2

The most affected roads categorized with deep potholes, broken culverts and bridges include 14km Bobi-Wii Lacic, 14.9km Palenga to Ongako, 8km Bobi-Okwii to Lii Sub County in Nwoya district, 8km Walter Ochora road, 39km Acet-Loyo ajonga to Labora, 10km Bobi-Opaya to Hiima and 60-meter long Hiima bridge which connects Keto- Awor in Lakwana Sub County. Omoro district has a total of 303km roads under its management and 581 under the management of the various sub counties.

Maracha District Council Bans Self-drive for Technical and Political Leaders 1 3

According to reports, four vehicles of Maracha district local government have been damaged due to reckless driving by some of the Technical and Political leaders and it is feared that leaders who have lost seats in the just concluded elections could pose more threat of damage if allowed to drive themselves in the government vehicles.
