Expectant Mothers Stuck As Floods Devastate Kyotera 2 3

The floods that had initially cut off Kyapa-Kasensero road intensified last week following the persistent rainfall in the area. This is the only road that connects Kasensero and Kyebe communities to Kyotera –Mutukula highway. As a result, the health workers and other road users can hardly cross to either side of the road.

Nakasongola District Council Defies Minister, Votes to Create New Sub-County 1 3

On April 9, Raphael Magyezi, the Minister of Local Government issued a circular to District chairpersons and mayors informing them of the suspension of the creation of new administrative units in villages, parishes, sub-counties, town councils, divisions, municipalities and districts. In the circular, Magezi said that the units have serious budgetary implications and bearing on national programmes such as elections, Population and Housing Census, among others.

According to the Secretary of Finance and Budgeting Basil Bataringaya, there was a shortfall of 400 million shillings out of the expected 1 billion shillings. The shortfall affected most activities that had been planned for implementation.

Nakasongola District Councillors Resolve to Retain Govt Smartphones 2 5

In October 2020, Nakasongola district procured 25 smartphones worth 10 million Shillings and handed them to Councillors and the LCV Chairperson to aid them in research and communication during their term. The Councillors signed a Memorandum of Understanding to maintain the phones and hand them back to the district upon completion of their term.
