Jackie Kiiza Kemigisha, the Principal Urban Officer in the Local Government Ministry, said the meeting came up with four resolutions and resolved to implement them with immediate effect in the interest of better service delivery in the municipality.
Daniel Kaseregenye, the Hoima Municipal Deputy Town Clerk, says they decided to carry out the renovation and expansion works due to shortage of space, adding that following the elevation of the municipal status in 2010, the number of staff increased and office block couldnt accommodate all of them.
John Longolio, the Senior Assistant Secretary who is currently in charge of the office of Nabilatuk Chief Administrative Officer, says they expect their first salary in August because of some technical delays.
Mityana Chief Administrative Officer James Nkata told Uganda Radio Network that the salaries were withheld as an internal tool to check on persons who wanted to be paid for no work done. Nkata says that he invoked powers vested in his office by the Public Service Standing Orders, permitting him to withhold salaries of staff that abscond from duty.
