Jacqueline Kobusinge, the Busunga Town Clerk says that the town council has been plunged into revenue shortfall after the major revenue resources suffered the effects of the lockdown and prolonged ADF insurgencies that limit the movement of people, especially traders.
Muhanguzi says most civil servants have failed to live to the moral standards expected of them, which has affected service delivery. “I condemn these actions of civil servants using other some people’s companies to win contracts in the district because its undermining service delivery”, Muhanguzi said
Bundibugyo District is vulnerable to floods, landslides, and drought among other natural calamities, according to the Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Profile by the Ministry for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees. It experienced the worst flooding in recent years.
The Mukakati Forward operating Base lies in the middle of Ituri Forest which is 18km from the Uganda-DRC Border at Busunga. The road had hindered the UPDF ground offensive against Allied Democratic Force-ADF rebels. The road construction work is jointly done by UPDF and FARDC Engineers.
