Parliament’s Budget Committee has declined to approve a 336.8 Billion Shillings supplementary budget request by government to purchase 9 million radio sets for Ugandan homes to facilitate the long distance learning program during the Covid-19 lockdown.
According to a press statement issued by the EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, the Abu Dhabi-based United Printing and Publishing firm will be responsible for the printing of ballot papers for the Presidential and Directly-elected Member of Parliament.
According to an MP on the committee who preferred anonymity, they have considered only urgent and immediate needs and have slashed over 900 billion shillings to reduce the debt burden.
