Records from the Electoral Commission offices in Arua City indicate that FDC party only nominated candidates for two constituencies of Arua Central and City Woman while DP failed to field candidates for City Woman and Ayivu East.
Nine of them are Independent, while four are from the ruling NRM party, three from Democratic Party, two Forum for Democratic Change, three from National Unity Party, two from ANT and one from the Justice Forum party.
Lilly Akello Rose Woman MP Karenga and member of the Legal Affairs committee of parliament says there is no need to bar the independents from participating since their fate is finally determined by the voters.

Police of Arua has exhibited items they recovered from the room of MP Robert Kyagulanyi, aka obi Wine and Kassiano Wadri an Independent candidate in the Arua Municipality parliamentary by-elections.The items which included two AK 47 guns with 30 rounds of Ammunitions each, a Pistol with 8 rounds of ammunitions, several mobile phones, red caps, T-shirts, among other items were paraded before the press in the office of the RPC north Western at 1pm today
Preliminary reports also indicate that Wadri, the former member of parliament for Terego County, has beaten the other eleven candidates in 31 Mvara Ward polling stations, at Niva Cell polling stations, Awindiri, Junior quarters and at River Oli headquarters polling station and three Bazaar Ward polling stations situated in the centre of Arua town.
