Parliament on Monday declined to approve the External Trade (Amendment) Bill, 2021 under which government proposed to levy US Dollars 0.4 per kilogram of exported maize brand, wheat bran, cotton cake and different by-products of the milling industry.
The professor who also teaches media law was today delivering a key note address titled; Freedom of Expression and the Emerging Militarism”. This was at an event organized by the Uganda Editors’ Guild in commemoration of the World Press Freedom Day at Kampala Serena Hotel.
“As the EU, we are particularly concerned about situations implicating security personnel. Unfortunately it appears that many violations by security forces rarely progress to prosecution even when reported, this can create a climate of impunity”
Aidan Eyakuze, the Executive Director Twaweza East Africa tasked media institutions to continue working towards building public trust by avoiding partisanship. He said that trust remains a big challenge affecting the media and it has implications on the economic viability of the industry
