General Katumba underwent surgery last evening to remove one of the bullets that were stuck in his arm. However, he said in a statement, that the second bullet was not removed because of the effect it had on the arteries.

Muntu was speaking from Medipal International Hospital in Kampala after visiting former Works Minister and Army MP General Katumba Wamala, who survived an assassination attempt on Tuesday. Katumba was shot by unknown gunmen along Kisota road in the Bukoto-Kisaasi neighbourhood, in an attack that left two people dead.
Hours after the shooting, police and military investigators are still trying to figure out what happened before, during and after the attack. As part of the investigations, military and police investigators are profiling residents from Mariam high school up to where Kisota road joins Bukoto-Kisaasi road.
The guards have been identified as Godfrey Wapukurwa 50 years and Kennedy Andama, 48 years attached to Security Group Africa-SGA. They were guarding a disputed land in Wankoko zone on spring road in Bugolobi, Nakawa Division.
"I had surgery last evening and one of the bullets was removed. However, because of how the other bullet affected my arteries, it was not removed, and the doctors will advise on the way forward,” General Katumba posted on his Twitter account.
Hajji Twahil Ssebaggala a resident at Kikandwa and also the Mukono National Resistance Movement-NRM Chairperson asked the government to conduct a prompt, independent, and thorough investigation into the incident.
