Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu assumed the leadership of Church of the Uganda (CoU) on March 1, 2020. He was enthroned as the 9th Archbishop of Church of the Uganda (CoU) at a colorful ceremony held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe.
Shortly after his enthronement, Dr. Kazimba says his service is a call to the Ministry of "Conversion of the Head, Conversion of the Heart and Conversion of the Hand" derived from the book of Jeremiah Chapter 17:9-10.
The primate, who surprised the congregation when he sang lyrics from 'Tukudendereze Yesu', a Luganda hymn observed that although Church of England and CoU have differences, he is very aware that Jesus remains the same and saves, which unites the Anglican Communion.
"I am very happy to retire today. Which by God’s grace happens to be my 65th birthday. It is my joy to congratulate Rt. Rev. Stephen Kazimba, I pray that God guides you in your leadership as Archbishop of Church of Uganda," said Ntagali.
Bishop Serverus Jjumba of Masaka Diocese says the Museum is a collection of significant items and moments in the life of Cardinal Wamala, which will help priests and ordinary Christians to reflect on how to live purposeful lives filled with great contributions to the society.
Gen Katumba Wamala, the Co-chair of the Enthronement Organising Committee notes that they can’t allow everybody to take pictures, saying it might disrupt the event. "We need to be systematic. We have people who were accredited to do that and if we let everyone pull out his phone, then we will cause commotion," said Gen Katumba.
The 57 year old will take the baton from the 8th Archbishop; the Most Rev Stanley Ntagali who will is clocking 65 years of age, which is the mandatory retirement age for the Archbishop in CoU. The Archbishop can’t serve for more than 10 years.
While releasing the names of the new cabinet at Soroti District Council Hall on Saturday, Emorimor called for peace and reconciliation in Teso land. He observed that there were conflicts brewing from Iteso Cultural Union- ICU leadership, something he notes, needs selflessness. He urged the Iteso to unite for the development of the land.
