Prince Nakinbinge says for someone to possess a Muslim or Arabic name doesn’t automatically mean that they are Muslim. He referred to history where former rebels making up the ruling government adopted Muslim names during their bush times. The president himself has publically said that he was called Kassim.

The Installation of His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha as the second Chancellor of the University of St. Josephs’ Mbarara was conducted by Rt. Rev. Anthony Zziwa, the Chairperson of the Uganda Episcopal Conference in accordance with the regulations of National Council for Higher Education. Beinomugisha replaces the Emeritus Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese Most Rev Paul Bakyenga who is also the founder of the University.

In their civil suit number 343 of 2021 filed through their lawyers of M/s Ngaruye Ruhindi, Spenser & Company Advocates, the petitioners argue that ever since Mugisha was consecrated Bishop in August 2007, he has never bothered to establish a diocesan constitution as provided for under article 4 of the church of Uganda provincial constitution.

According to Bishop Ssemogerere, many people have been donating land to the Church over the years, which has enabled it to construct Churches, schools and health centers among others. He says that unfortunately, most of the people who donated land to the Church over 80 years ago have already died.
