This morning, angry residents and the business community from Goans Quarters blocked the 1.5 kilometers road protesting its appalling condition. They mounted barricades, boulders, wood logs and planted crops demanding that no business takes place along the road until it is repaired.

Construction of Roads in Busia Stalls Over Structures Built in Road Reserve 3

Construction of the 3 Kilometers roads that started last month has since stalled on the 0.27 Kilometers- Kms Wanyama Bony road, and 0.65 Kms Ekaka road after residents constructed residential houses, wall fences on the road reserve. The owners of the structures are demanding compensation before works can proceed.

Concessionaires are also required to assess each client objectively depending on how much garbage they generate.
