Japanese ambassador to Uganda, Hidemoto Fakuzawa, said at the signing of the exchange notes with Finance minister, Matia Kasaija, that the project is intended to improve National Road in Refugee-Hosting Areas of West Nile Sub-region. This covers the Yumbe-Manibe road which is in bad conditions and hampers smooth transportation of goods and people.
The government program which will be conducted in vocational institutions starting February to April 2021, across the country at a free cost is meant to empower the youths will skills that enable them to sustain themselves in life.
URA officials also agree that some politicians are discouraging taxation, citing areas along the borders. The politicians in these areas claim that if government abolished smuggling, for example, the residents would starve, because that is their main source of livelihood.
