Energo Uganda Limited Company is carrying out stone quarrying at Kageri rock in Wabinyonyi Sub County. The stones are used to construct roads in Kampala city and other highways in Uganda.
Many roads are now impassable over heavy rains and rising water levels of Lake Kyoga since 2020. Some roads are submerged by water, culverts collapsed and filled with potholes.
The Ministry of Works and Transport contracted the Company in 2019 to tarmac a road and construct the bridge that connects Nakasongola to Kayunga district for a tune of 15 billion Shillings. The construction was supposed to be completed within 18 months, but was later granted a six months extension.

Nsamba says they have also appealed to the Fisheries Protection Unit to resume their operations on the Lake and fight the practice of fishermen gazetting certain spots on the lake, which is fueling clashes.
