Bernard Mujuni, the Commissioner for Equity and Rights at the Ministry says the current policies and institutions like the judiciary, police, Equal Opportunities Commission, the Uganda Human Rights Commission, among others, have not adequately protected elderly and other vulnerable persons.
URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi emphasized that integrity is the minimum standard required from all involved in tax administration. He added that the authority has established an independent department to hold staff accountable for integrity and moral issues, and has made integrity one of its core values.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, EACOP addressed allegations that landowners in Kikuube District had not been compensated or were facing potential eviction without compensation. According to EACOP's compensation records, only one project-affected person remains unpaid.
