Through the market community radio, the RDC Sulaiman Ogajjo Barasa announced that the District COVID-19 taskforce had resolved that the market be closed temporarily until they put all the presidential guidelines in place. He said that the vendors had failed to adhere to the guidelines and advised them to stay home until further notice.
URN has established that people operating businesses in the market are not sleeping in these markets and the 4-meter spacing for the social distancing is not visible where vendors have remained congested as many people can assembly in one stall while buying.
Trouble for the chairperson started on Tuesday morning when the vendors arrested him and handed him to police. This caused a meeting between police, the vendors and the market executives.
