The traders were returning to Soroti City when their vehicle, a Tata Lorry UAY 350E overturned at Adipala Village along Amuria Road. Two traders, a man with a broken leg and a lady with a broken rib have since been evacuated to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital after receiving first aid at Kapelebyong HC 1V.
The equipment was donated to farm groups when Kapelebyong was still under Amuria district- under the commercialization of agriculture project managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries in 2016/2017 Financial Year.
Richard Alioka, a farmer in Acowa Sub County says citrus farming has become very expensive to manage amidst challenges of low demand. Alioka says that he started orange farming in 2012 with five acres but notes that the management of orange trees is now costly than the output.
The traders say that they have lost more than 200 million Shillings since April, because of the operations. The losses are incurred when security operatives impound animals sold by Karimojong traders to the traders in Teso Sub Region.
