Archbishop Odama told Uganda Radio Network in a telephone interview Saturday that Gen Lokech was an advocate for peace at the height of the Lord’s Resistance Army-LRA insurgency in Northern Uganda instead of the use of violence.
Ouma is the first in the Oceng lineage to inherit the Parakono sub-clan throne, in several years since the death of the once-powerful clan Chief Lutwayi I in the 1920s. Since then, the clan has been headed by caretakers until last year when Ouma was appointed as the legitimate clan chief in February.
The sub tribe comprises three major clans of Kiteny, Okuti, and Akutumor. They are also assimilated into 56 other sub clans currently occupying the six parishes of Orom Sub County with an estimated population of 36,000 people.
Today, Uganda is celebrating his legacy of reconciliation at a memorial which has brought together persons from different walks of life. President Yoweri Museveni and The Archbishop of York, His Grace Dr John Sentamu are joining thousands of pilgrims for the historical event.
