The solder identified as James Onyango, a Lance Corporal attached to SPLA’s Lion Battalion was arrested on 19 March 28, 2019 armed with an AK47 gun Reg: No. Bm-9640 with 59 rounds and two empty magazines.
The ministry closed up to 150 homes in a four-month exercise that began in September 2018. The exercise was as a result of a Cabinet decision that called for the closure of all illegal homes on grounds that some of them were used to traffic children out of the country.

A patient Rose Nabawanuka was referred to Kalangala Health Center IV, the only facility in Ssese Islands with a medical surgeon, for a caesarian birth. To get there, She needed a canoe boat, but she had become weak after so many hours in labour, without treatment and care. She had also been hit by the direct sun on the lake after sailing about 38 nautical miles to Mwena Landing Site in Bugala, the main Island in Kalangala district. She died on arrival.
Justice Mugambe granted the accused bail on grounds that they had overstayed on remand without trial. However, the suspects were returned to Luzira prison to allow time for the completion of their paper work. They are expected to regain their freedom on Friday.
Each of the suspects and their sureties executed non cash bond of Shillings 150 million and 250 million respectively. Justice Mugambe also directed the suspects with passports to deposit them with court and report to the Registrars in the High Court circuits near their homes every 19th day of each month.
