Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP party spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network that the 44 torture victims are those who approached the headquarters seeking medical assistance. He, however, says that there are many others who are being helped by party officials and supporters in various parts of the country.
The cases were registered between September 12th last year and January 20th this year. They include unlawful assembly contrary to section 65 and 66 of the Penal Code Act, defacing of campaign posters contrary to section 78(2) of the Presidential Election Act, defamation and inciting violence.
On Wednesday, a delegation from the Ugandan side led by the Mayor Koboko Municipality Wilson Sanya and the Regional Police Commander Aswa Steven Kaija received the bodies at Elegu Border point in Amuru District at 6:30 pm.
Chalaire Omagor, the District Education Officer in Kalaki when contacted said that four boys missed the examination out of 1,965 registered candidates in the district. He notes while one candidate was bedridden and unable to write the examinations, three others were too busy engaged in some income generating activities in Soroti City.
