Innocent Niyonzima, a social worker and resident of Kisoro municipality, is one of the victims of the death threats. Niyonzima says that in February this year, he reported Vianney Ngororano, a staff at Kisoro Chief Magistrates Court after several members of the public accused of bribery.

Edismary Musimenta, a 55-year-old resident of Rujanjara village in Kyanamira sub county got married to Bruno Sserunkuma in 1986 and gave birth to seven children. When her husband died in 2007, her mother-in-law demanded back all the land. Musimenta says that her explanation to the mother-in-law that she also needed land to use it in raising children fell on deaf and she was thrown out into the destitution she is wallowing in up to now.
