At just 13 years old, Odoch has already faced more challenges than many could imagine. Born with a physical disability that affected his mobility, his dream of an education seemed out of reach.
In an interview with Uganda Radio Network, Chesang expressed her excitement about racing in Boston, noting that the event features some of the fastest female marathoners, which will challenge her to improve her personal best time as she looks ahead to the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, set for 2026.
"During this time, students may face increased pressure, leading to disengagement, especially if struggling academically due to financial challenges among others," says a report by a youth-focused NGO, Reach a Hand Uganda (RAHU).
Additionally, 14 percent identified a lack of childcare support in case the mother returns to school, and 12 percent pointed to inflexible school policies towards student-mothers.
Three of these unions were presided over by NIRA Executive Director Rosemary Kisembo at the authority offices in Kololo, while the remaining nine couples were wed at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
Betty Akella, a resident, recalls how her husband worked as a sugarcane cutter for Kakira Sugar Works before passing away in 1997, leaving her to depend on well-wishers for survival.
