Mbaju who contested as an Independent candidate challenged the election of Gideon Thembo Mujungu of the National Resistance Movement-NRM citing cases of voter bribery, ballot stuffing and the existence of ghost voters of the register.
According to a notice issued by the assistant registrar His Worship Matenga Dawa, the judgment has been rescheduled for next Monday 11th October from 25th October as had been delivered by Justice Victorious Katamba .
Mujungu, the National Resistance Movement -NRM party candidate won the parliamentary race with 7,601 votes, defeating his main challenger Jackson Mbaju who got 7,522 votes and eight others. But Mbaju petitioned the court to challenge the outcome of the polls citing cases of voter bribery, ballot stuffing and the existence of ghost voters of the register.

Winnie Kiiza the Kasese Woman Member of Parliament who is also the Alliance for National Transformation-ANT national coordinator believes the majority of the voters cast their vote for NRM not necessarily that they wanted but feared for retaliation in case NRM lost again.

NRM will have 44 councillors in the council out of the 68 in the district according to final results released by the district electoral commission office on Saturday. The members include 29 directly elected and 13 women elected councillors.
The FDC party performed poorly in last week's parliamentary elections. It lost three seats to the NRM party. NRM won the Busongora South, North and Kasese municipality seats. FDC retained the Bukonzo, West, East and Woman MP seats.
According to records from the Electoral Commission, in the 2016 general elections, 244,720 voters in Kasese voted for the presidential election exercise out of the 335,162 registered ones.
