The NUP candidates defeated their closest rivals of the National Resistance Movement-NRM party, to fill the four Sub-county women councilors seats that had been not elected in the last general elections.

In a letter to the Electoral Commission, Rubongoya noted that the party’s Management Committee has rejected Babikola’s decision. According to Rubongoya, the management committee was not convinced by the reasons given by their candidate.
In her October 30th notice, Babikola argues that she is incapable of continuing with the race due to lack of financial resources to canvass for votes across the district.
