The Returning office Arua has declared the detained Wadri Kassiano Ezati, an Independent candidate the winner of the hotly contested Arua Municipality parliamentary seat,Ruth Angom Ococ declared Wadri winner with 6421 votes beating his closest challenges Tiperu Nusura who got 4798 votes.
Preliminary reports also indicate that Wadri, the former member of parliament for Terego County, has beaten the other eleven candidates in 31 Mvara Ward polling stations, at Niva Cell polling stations, Awindiri, Junior quarters and at River Oli headquarters polling station and three Bazaar Ward polling stations situated in the centre of Arua town.
At most polling stations visited by our reporter, polling materials arrived by 630am while voting commenced between 8am and 8:30am. At Awindiri primary school F-Z and A-E polling stations that have 554 and 635 registered voters respectively, one of the presiding officers failed to show up and had to be replaced by the parish supervisor.
I understand that some of our people were worried about the endless criminal acts of elements of the Opposition, including the incidents of Arua on Monday.The elements of the Opposition, including Kassiano Wadri, Kyagulanyi Bobi Wine and others, who stoned our convoy, including my vehicle.
