The 96km-road was built in the 1960s to link and promote trade ties and cooperation between Uganda, Tanzania, and the rest of the East African partners. Kyotera County Member of Parliament John Paul Mpalanyi told URN that the current state of the road is appalling.
According to Mpalanyi, the donation is in response to repeated outcries from the hospital for the items amid the growing number of COVID-19 patients and deaths. So far 18 health workers at the facility have contracted the virus, with two of them on oxygen.

Partick Kintu Kisekulo, the chairperson for Kyotera district says the victims were last night dropped in different trading centers by people driving in security vehicles commonly known as Toyota drones.

Kisekulo scored 30,684 votes to defeat the National Resistance Movement-NRM candidate Charles Lubega Zziridamu who had 16, 880 votes and the National Unity Platform candidate Muhammad Muwonge (NUP) who scored 3,583 votes.
According to Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson Muhammad Nsubuga, the suspects were arrested over the last five days. Some directly attacked their opponents while others destroyed election materials and participated in a post-election protests.
Charles Kirumira Lwanga, the Kyotera County NUP Parliamentary candidate, says their members were picked up by armed operatives in uniform and some in plain-clothes who were travelling in two numberless Toyota Hiace Drone-vans took them to an unknown location.
