Amuriat was today appearing before the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee which is investigating cases of electoral violence that were witnessed and experienced in the recent general elections. Amuriat, also the president of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party told the committee that he experienced untold humiliation and brutality, all through the campaign.
In a campaign that was scientific—characterized by smaller crowds, broadcast media was a target for all political actors. Though it’s those with money who could buy space. And given that most radios in Uganda are owned by politicians of the ruling party, opposition parties reported being denied access to media space with no explanation.
Akon says the main goal is to promote tourism in Uganda, develope infrastructure and establish solar energy projects both in the City and in rural areas in Uganda.
