Paul Bukenya, the spokesperson of the Electoral Commission told URN this evening that the Electoral Commission is set to conduct the by-election with two candidates in the race. Bukenya says that the NUP candidate did not follow the right procedure in withdrawing his candidature and that the commission had not received any notification about his candidature by this afternoon.
The caution came moments after unofficial tally centres emerged posting varying figures from Tuesday's polls, purporting to represent the counting exercise. But the head of the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Kenya Bishop John Obala Owaa cautioned against the tally centres announcing results as authentic or official.
