In a letter dated September 15, Kabanda said she was unable to sign for the release of the money because the processes through which such authorization is arrived at are not followed.
This comes at a time when a group of students led by the former Makerere University Guild President Shamim Nambassa has already filed a lawsuit in the High Court contesting the ongoing constitutional review process.
But the petitioners have not yet sued the King as they had put it in the petition. Reverend Willy Kintu Muhanga, the Chairperson of the Clan Leaders who petitioned the King has told Uganda Radio Network that they are currently not certain of when they will go to court to proceed with their earlier decision of suing the King.
In a statement published on the NIMD website on Wednesday evening and confirmed by its Country Director Frank Rusa, the Institute noted that as a key partner of Ugandan political parties, it is ready to continue supporting the process toward a new Memorandum of Understanding for IPOD and would only consider continuing to host the secretariat if IPOD is fully inclusive.
