Their arrest followed the disappearance of a six-year-old girl, Jacqueline Kyomuhendo, in Kasese town. Kyomuhendo, a primary one pupil at Margherita Demonstration School went missing on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Elijah Mutema aged 60 years and peasant farmer at Mawa village in Makulubita sub-county, Luweero district.Paul Kangave, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson says that Mutema was attacked on Monday while in his garden and strangled to death by unknown assailants.
The affected families are residents of Aywee and Cubu A/B villages in Pece Division, Gulu Municipality. Residents say the fire broke out at about 2:00 am as they slept. It razed down 16 huts while three were saved.
The 6-year-old child identified as Ssempereza Jameson, a pupil at Good Choice Nursery School, was last seen alive at around 8 pm on Sunday, together with his eight-year-old brother Goodrick Ssempereza. They were reportedly going to fetch water.
Otuke District Police Commander Edson Birema identified the suspects as Lumuge Teko, 25, Nathlineora Linga, 29, Napathia Apakareli, 29, and Apajiwai Kiyonga, 32, all from Kotido district. The suspects are now held at Otuke Central Police Station on charges of theft.
