A police officer told URN that the suspect was carrying a sack full of tiles, which he is believed to have stolen from one of the factories in industrial park. The officer said they asked the deceased to stop as the 999 patrol vehicle approached him but he threw the sack and started running.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the suspect's used break-in implements to break one of the Bank Windows which they planned to use as an entry point into the bank. However, the moment the window was broken, the motion detector alarm installed at the bank was sounded sending a signal to the Security Guard Africa (SGA) head office.
The Luweero District Police Commander, Benson Byaruhanga Mworozi, says recently the Inspector General of Police issued a circular reminding all private security firms against deploying single guards at premises, saying it is risky for their lives and property.
