Reports from security personnel in Lamwo district show that SSPDF advanced towards Uganda’s territory in an attempt to raid the Immigration center at Ngomoromo border post to recover impounded motorcycles.
The police officer said the majority of the people detained are members of National Unity Platform -NUP and Forum for Democratic Change - FDC particularly those that attempted to escort their leaders to and from the nomination venue at Kyambogo University.
Geoffrey Okwir- Gunya, the Ober- oumo-lao Clan Chief told URN that the accused agreed to their terms and conditions is willing to compensate for the deceased’s family.
The deceased was identified as James Tako. Preliminary police investigations reveal that Tako drowned when he and his peers had gone to swim on the turbulent river, a tributary of Aswa River that joins River Nile.
The campaign is in relation to the long-running feud between the Iteso and Acoli-labwor community over the ownership of Alungar, Morolokwangat, Apopongo, Nyakwai, Akuoro, Aolio, Apuuton villages and part of Nyarikidi zone, which are currently occupied by over 16,000 Iteso.
Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi Region Police Spokesperson has regretted the incident, saying the deceased’s body has been handed over to Bukwo Health Center Iv for postmortem while his brother has been moved to Kumi Orthopedic hospital for further management.
Kyagulanyi is lined up for nomination today together with his Forum for Democratic change- FDC counterpart, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Democratic party President, Norbert Mao, and independent candidate, Fred Mwesigye.
